Most of our work is for homeowners, and it usually begins with one of four situations. Something has cracked or sunk. A house built with the minimum of concrete needs more. A flood or a repair has left a slab damaged. Or the owner is getting ready to sell. We handle the full range around a house: driveways, front and side walks, patios, carport and shed slabs, steps and landings, small walls and repairs to what is already there.
Baton Rouge housing covers a century of building methods, and each kind has its own concrete issues. Raised cottages in the older neighborhoods have brick piers, separate steps and narrow strip driveways. Slab ranch houses from the middle of the last century have thin flatwork that has reached the end of its life. Newer subdivision homes often sit on post-tensioned slabs that must not be cut, with flatwork laid on fill that is still settling. We look at what you have before suggesting anything.
The estimate is free and done at your property. We measure, look at the soil and the drainage, ask how you use the space, and then send a written quote that states thickness, base, steel, joints, finish and cleanup. If the job touches the public sidewalk, a ditch culvert, a flood zone or an HOA rule, we tell you which office or board to contact, and we handle the 811 request when we dig.
Residential concrete in Baton Rouge: common questions
Can you do several small jobs at one house in one visit?
Yes, and it usually saves money. A walk, a patio extension and a repaired step can share one concrete delivery and one crew day. Tell us everything on your list at the estimate, even the items you may put off.
My house has a post-tensioned slab. Does that affect outdoor work?
It affects anything that cuts or drills the house slab itself, which we avoid. New patios and walks are poured beside it as separate slabs with a joint between. Tell us if you see a post-tension stamp on your garage floor.
I am selling my house. Should I replace cracked concrete first?
Fix what is a safety or inspection issue, such as a trip edge or a slab draining toward the house. Cosmetic cracks rarely pay back full replacement. We will tell you which is which.
